Nido

Our Nido environment is designed to be calm, safe, and responsive to the needs of our youngest learners. Infants entering this room should be able to benefit from an atmosphere that supports natural development at their own pace, whether they are just beginning to lift their heads, roll over, crawl, or take their first steps.

We focus on fostering secure attachments with caregivers, supporting feeding routines, encouraging movement, and offering Montessori materials that promote sensory exploration and early fine motor development. Gentle grace and courtesy lessons, such as soft touches and using calm voices, are introduced in age-appropriate ways.

Toddlers

Our Toddler rooms provide a nurturing environment that supports children’s rapid development in language, movement, and independence.

To be successful in this space, children should be confidently walking, beginning to use words or signs to express basic needs, and able to follow simple one-step directions. Emerging self-help skills such as drinking from a cup, feeding themselves with minimal assistance, and beginning interest in toilet learning are encouraged and supported.

Toddlers in this room explore Montessori materials that build fine and gross motor skills, develop early practical life abilities, and foster social awareness through lessons in grace and courtesy.

Pre-Primary

Our Pre-Primary room at Harmony Montessori Academy is designed for children who are ready for increased independence.

To thrive in this environment, children should be able to communicate basic needs verbally, follow simple directions, and participate in short group activities. They should demonstrate developing self-help skills like feeding themselves, self-diapering or being toilet trained, and putting on simple clothing items. Additionally, children entering the Pre-Primary room should be able to engage with materials purposefully, show curiosity in exploring their surroundings, and practice respect for others by using gentle hands. This foundation allows them to fully benefit from the Montessori materials and lessons that promote concentration, coordination, independence, and a love of learning.

Primary

Our Primary room is a rich Montessori environment where children refine independence, concentration, and a love of learning through hands-on exploration.

To be ready for this space, children should be fully toilet trained, able to follow multi-step directions, and capable of engaging in individual and small-group activities for extended periods. They should demonstrate respect for their environment and peers, including the ability to care for materials, wait their turn, and use polite language.

In this room, children build foundational skills in practical life, sensorial exploration, language, math, and cultural studies, preparing them not only for academic success but also for confident, responsible participation in their community.
